Lightning network developer raises US$1.7mil
Paris-based Acinq, a developer of products and services on the bitcoin ecosystem, has closed a US$1.7mil funding round led by Serena Capital, according to a report by CoinDesk.
The startup says in a press release that others who participated in the funding round were Talend cofounder Bertrand Diard, Sebastien Lucas, Alistair Milne and Snapcar founder Yves Weisselberger.
Acinq is one of a handful of startups working on the lightning network, a solution to boost the number of transactions that the bitcoin blockchain platform can perform.
The startup’s best-known product is the Android-compatible Éclair wallet that was launched in July last year.
In May, Acinq launched Strike, a web application programming interface that allows businesses to easily receive funds over the lighting network with minimal integration costs.
The startup says the funding will be used to increase the hires of its engineering team and to develop new lightning network-based services.
